Finally some progress. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

They should be charging him with DWA, at the very least...

I got the repair estimate for my car the other day - £2350.37, lol.

I don't think the lady who smashed me up even had to do a course, they just decided to let it go. Anyway, sounds like good progress, are you looking for another little ninja or taking the chance to move up again

I guess that's a matter of perspective, and I'm probably on the wrong side of that to be of any help lol, they feel small to me.

When I was in my first year or two insurance was the deciding factor so I got a quote on a comparison site, and then just repeatedly changed the bike to see what the biggest bike I could afford was. I phoned one of them up and he was shocked that about 100 quotes came up for me, he struggled to find the one I meant until I gave him the reference lol.

I didn't realise you'd only ridden it a few times, I think i'd put in at least a couple thousand miles on 600's before I moved up, and then it was still only to a comparatively weedy 750 (which come to think of it made less power than your ninja).

People can do DAS and buy fireblades without incident, everyone's different, and I'm sure you could move up just fine, but as Ade said to Helen countless times over the last couple of years, moving up too fast slows down your learning.

Good luck with whatever you get, and I hope the cheque comes through before summer :)

I'd be worried about it getting lodged somewhere. That would be an embarrassing X-ray.

Just give it the slightest flick of clutch and a little throttle and it'll extricate itself and be bounding off down the road like an excitable puppy, waving its front wheel in the air. Ride one a few miles and you remember just how fat and lardy 90s / early noughties sportsbikes were.

I don't doubt it, I just need them to make a nice light bike with generous proportions. Hornet 600 was out of the question, SV650's are too small, and the daytona 675 I sat on a while back was like a toy. I'm only 6'3 so nothing out of the ordinary, I just don't understand why they design these new bikes around tiny people.

I read somewhere the new ZX10 has the same riding position as an old 400 ninja

definately dont think i will be going for a bigger engine 6 was nice for now, just how big and bulky it is, dont get me wrong i love it and ride was great, just rather annoyin havin to stretch to reach floor and practically lay on tank while riding cos im a short arse :). Plus it bloody hurts when some thing 3 times heavier lands on you lol. looking at other 6's just maybe a bit more practical

Not far off, PB mag compared the two recently, although the ZXR always was big for a 400. Sportsbikes have been getting smaller and smaller because the manufacturers build them for racing now, not as road bikes - same reason their engines keep getting less suitable for the road too.

The 675 Daytona is small. I've not ridden one, but sat on one it feels very similar to my old 748. The Street is basically teh same bike, but much more comfortable because of the flat bars. To start with I was getting knee cramps, but I'm old and used to riding a sofa Bandit, I got used to it after a few rides and have no problems now, the peg position on Karen's GSXR felt much more extreme. I'm not tall (5' 10"), but I do have long legs (34" inside leg"), and there's plenty of room for me on the Striple. It does feel like a toy compared to teh Bandit though, so light and so chuckable, it'll run rings round big sportsbikes.

Sportsbikes of that era mostly are a long stretch to the bars for the shorter rider (try an early 'Blade for example, made more of a stretch by its big chunky tank). The ZX6 was the biggest in its class physically though, more of an old school road sports bike, alongside the smaller alternatives from the other three Jap manufacturers, an R6 for example is tiny by comparison (and very uncomfortable). If you want practicality, comfort and fun look at things like a Fazer, half faired hornet/SV/ER6 etc. The Fazer's almost as fast as your ZX6, but more comfy and practical.
